'When only very few rights were granted to women' is translated as 'où l'on n'octroyait que très peu de droits à la gente féminine'. But in the dictionary it seems to say that this noun is spelt 'gent' without the 'e'; while 'gente' is a form of the adjective meaning 'gentil'
Hello,
Is there's a difference between "pour avoir fait" and "ayant fait"? If yes, when does one use which?
Thanks!
Jo
Shouldn't this be: Tâchez de bien vous entendre? Otherwise, it reads "try to hear each other".
Is enfants not plural so the objective pronoun is leurs? Leur would equal "un enfant"?
Hi,
" D'ailleurs, ça me rappelle que Paul m'avait prêté un livre passionnant que j'ai toujours chez moi ! - Tu ne les as pas revus depuis tout ce temps ? - Non, et du coup, je n'ai pas encore pu le lui rendre ! "
In this sentence I put "je ne suis pas encore arrivé à le lui rendre !" which I think works as well?
Nick
I don't see why this is plus que parfait. This refers to an action completed in the past. Seems to me "je te l'ai dit" would serve just as well or better.
Quand j'ai recherche "French-Canadian" dans le dictionnaire, (Collins- online), j'ai trouve: "Canadienne-Francaise". Peut-etre l'allusion aurait ete, "from Quebec" ou "Quebecois" ?
J'ai ecrit, "...elle peut chanter". Est-ce que cette phrase est aussi bonne que "...elle sait chanter" ? Je dois dire que je trouve que c'est une belle phrase: "...elle sait chanter" !
Is there a difference between "Nous mangerons dans 30 minutes" and "Nous mangeons dans 30 minutes"? My understanding is that it's a subtle difference (e.g, "we will sit down to eat 30 minutes from now" vs. "we're sitting down to eat 30 minutes from now"), but both ultimately refer to the beginning of the action in the future.
