sortir v retirer

sortir v retirer

I put "..je retire les vêtements de la machine à laver", but not marked as an alternative. Does that work as well as "je sors..."?

Bonjour Nick,

You are right that "retire" is a correct alternative. It is now a correct option.

Merci de votre contribution et bonne journée !

Salut Nick,

Interesting point!

Both sortir and retirer can be used transitively.

Retirer in the sense of enlever, to lift out or pull (sth) out or remove (sth) or even withdraw (money from a cash point).

Sortir in the sense (mettre hors de), get / bring / take (sth) out.

To answer your query  --  I think that your point is valid but I am looking forward to a comment from a staff expert.

Bonne journée

Jim
