Devoir compared with Censé

Is the usage of devoir for 'supposed to do something' used more frequently than censé or être censé?

Bonjour Janet,

In French, "être censé" is a bit more formal than "devoir". But they're both used equally (maybe "devoir" is used a bit more frequently).

Attention:

"devoir", in this context, still retains its meaning of obligation while "être censé" is more about reporting an expectation

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
