pronunciation problem in the dictees?

The pronunciation of the word  "cloche" sounds like the letter "a" in english like "hat".  I have found pronunciations errors in these dictees at least 3 times .  I don't find the dictees very good for the pronunciation.

Hi Nancy,

I have listened to the audio, and I am afraid that 'cloche' is pronounced correctly by a native speaker from the Paris area. I can't hear the 'a' sound you suggest but it is a short 'o' as in, 'porte' and  'olive' .

Hope this helps!

It’s only a comment, but I find the dictation exercises invaluable for the very reason that they are dictated by native French speakers and that you have to listen carefully, digest and translate what’s been said. It’s a good way to improve one’s spoken language and written grammar skills. Amen !
