Bonjour. J'ai une question. La lettre t en huit est muette lorsqu'on prononce un chiffre, par exemple 800. est-ce la même chose pour août par exemple le 10 août 2021 ?

Direct to indirect speech Reported speech. I have a doubt in the following question.

Une mère dit a son fils "Qu'est-ce qui t’intéresse beaucoup?"

Une mère dit a son fils ce qui l’intéresse beaucoup or Une mère dit a son fils ce qui lui intéresse beaucoup.

Please clarify. TIA.

Difficulty with keyboard. Is is possikble to redo the test?

is it possible for me to repeat this test? I pressed the wrong buttons and missed some questions.

Is there an easy way for me to access a French keyboard for these exercises?

I had written out the answers the first time I listened to the exercise and did a lot better on the handwritten exercises

I also did not complete all the exercises with each section and would like to go back to these

To the small pool should be into the small pool

Thanks for this exercise.

One minor detail to improve here: I got confused by "dans le petit bassin" being translated as "to the small pool", which means "au petit bassin", instead the correct English translation is "into the small pool".

Why is the past perfect used, rather than the passé composé? Bonjour! These writing exercises are absolutely fantastic resources that I'm enjoying very much. A little question, however: I'm also going to raise (or re-raise) Meryl's question about why the French past perfect is used, rather than the passé composé, to translate what looks like the past simple in English. I've never knowingly come across this usage before, but I've seen it now in a couple of these writing exercises and wonder if I have overlooked something. Perhaps it's a matter of perspective -- perhaps this is an extract from a longer passage where the writer has just been writing about the past, and then for these first few lines, goes back further into the past? (Though strictly speaking, you'd mirror that with "had rented" and "had travelled" in English.) The last line of the text does actually use the passé composé. Many thanks!

"dernières" pronunciationIn the sentence: "Ce sont les dernières de la saison, et elles sont croquantes et juteuses," I hear "bernières" instead of "dernières". Is it just me?
