Is it right that you don't pronounce the 'S' at the end of 'suis' when it's followed by 'à'?

I had thought anytime a vowel sound follows a word ending in 's', you pronounce that s. Like with 'Je dine dans une...'

Are these sentences incorrect [see: French is Fun Book 1 / 2020)]?  (1) Le père de Roger est un artiste.  (2) La mère de Marie est une championne de karate.  

Aapparently when turning to take another street or road, one uses the preposition, dans, as in "...tournez à gauche dans la rue Jacques Cartier." But if one continues on this avenue or route, one uses the preposition, sur, as in "...Continuez sur cette route..."  However, then we have "... puis prenez la deuxième à gauche sur l'avenue de la Liberté" where now the preposition, sur, is used in this turn.  So, the prepositions are a bit confusing for us.  Can you give us some advice regarding sur and dans in the context of directions?

"It is green" still gets "il est vert" marked wrong, despite the fact that it appears to refer to a specific item (as opposed to using "c'est vert," the preferred answer, which would indicate something more general--despite no indication of such in the sentence). Tired of having my score set back (I had to use up most of my free quizzes for the month to make up for this). Please fix. Would also be nice to have the "report it" button on the page that people seem to say exists but which I have never seen.

In this lesson, Expressing Numbers from 70 to 999, the paragraph which begins "Note: Before the 1990 Spelling Reform, numbers including et as well as numbers higher than 100 didn’t include the hyphen...", has two examples, "deux cent" and "deux-cent", neither of which have "cent" written as "cents". They should have an "s" at the end shouldn't they, since they are not followed by another number? 

Pourquoi est-ce qu'il ny a pas un "s" au fin de "Kit-Kat" dans la phrase "Alors, deux McFlurry Kit-Kat...."?
