My husband, who is French, is adamant that 'avoir' is not used with apparu. Is it that this is a regional usage (eg Quebec v France or even South of France v Paris where he's from)? Or is it just uncommon? Otherwise, like many a native speaker, he could simply be mistaken!

If you translate 'the few savings she had left' as 'les maigres économies qui lui restaient' it is corrected to 'les maigres économies qui lui restait'. Is this a mistake?

It might be grammatically correct but it’s kinda creepy! Kwiziq has to cater for all tastes I suppose.

For "these old objects" I tried "ces objets anciens" and was corrected to "ces anciens objets". Is ancien going before the noun here because there is some sense of former-ness (the objects aren't what they used to be), even though they are still objects?
