The phrase I saw:
Je suis tout à fait satisfait du cadeau que j’ai trouvé pour Sarah. Je l’ai emballé dans DU JOLI PAPIER et je lui donnerai ce soir.
Here the "du joli papier" I thought it is not preceded by any "de" preposition. "emballer dans" is the preceding phrase. So why is DU used here? A mistake?
In the sentence ‘’ If you manage to reach the cirque, you will have a truly unique experience. ‘’, could you translate this using Hypothetical Clauses using the Imparfait and the Conditionnel, thus « Si vous réussissiez à atteindre le cirque, vous vivriez une expérience vraiment unique ‘’
Which is correct. Il fait beau or il y a du soleil?
Here is the phrase: "Enfin, j'arrive sur la Grand-Place et je retrouve mon frere a cote de la fontaine."
Note: "La Grand-Place" was given as the hint for this sentence, otherwise I might have written, "la Grande-Place", (even though the pronunciation is "grand" and not "grande").
Does anyone know why " la Grand-Place", rather than "la Grande-Place" since "la place" is feminine ?
Merci beaucoup !
This could be interpreted as "Did you clean it LIKE I had asked you?" The question is ambiguous.
Au lieu de dire "le guide sera suivi par les enfants" puis-je dire "le guide va être suivi par les enfants"?
"Ils sont en forme de crânes."
Why is it not, "Ils sont en forme des crânes." IOW why is the partitive singular de for the plural crânes ?
I used des rather than de in the phrase "the ghosts of previous paintings" since it is used in the context of a plural noun: "les fantômes des (rather than de) peintures précédentes". Since there is no adjective in front of the noun, why is the singular de used?
The answer to “I’m going home” is: Je rentre chez moi. Why is “chez nous” not acceptable?
