One of the things that continues to confuse me is when to use à , sur, dans when working with dates ( dans l’après midi - ) , sur La Canebière. Etc because sometimes they use au, à la and they are correcting me . Is there a lesson I can review to clarify this?

This is in the context of a visit to this city, which came alive in the evening. Until then the shops were closed and the streets empty. The text book answer was NOT in the imparfait. What is the rationale applied here?
Hello, Here in Canada the usual translation of cinnamon is "cannelle" but I see in this exercise it is shown as "canelle" with just one 'n'. Can you please let me know if this is an alternate spelling or perhaps, a regional difference? Thank you in advance.
As always, your exercises and site are terrific and very much appreciated! :-)
I am trying to determine when to use 'emmener' and when to use 'amener' and to some extent 'apporter'. All of the examples seem to imply that the first two refer to people, whereas 'apporter' refers to things. Is that right? Is there any guidance regarding the usage of 'emmener' vice 'amener' ? Both translate to take or bring and in some contexts the meaning is lead. Thanks.
Why "de Hong Kong" and not "d'Hong Kong" ? Is it because city name consists of two words ?
Would either be accepted? It's my understanding that one means "at the end", and the other means "finally". Thank you
