Question about the usage of froid

(1) If the person is female, we still use froid instead of froide? For example, Elle a froid?

(2) How about plural female pronoun like "elles"? Which one of the following is correct: a) Elles ont froid? or b) Elles ont froides?

Merci!

Hi  Luchen,

It will remain as ‘froid’ or ‘chaud’ as the expression is -

Avoir froid/ chaud .

J’ai froid , elle a froid, nous avons froid, elles ont froid  or chaud...

You only agree froid or chaud ( adjectives) when they are  linked to nouns as in -

L’ eau  chaude ou froide

Hope this helps!

The French expression literally means: I have cold. So froid is a noun.

Oui, merci

Is it because both chaud and froid are masculine nouns, so no matter which subjective pronoun it is, the chaud and froid always stay "chaud" and "froid"?

merci
