Not sure where, what, why the "leur" indirect object is in this sentence..."D'où leur viennent ce nom et langage étrange." Anyone explain? 

Why is is imparfait used in this sentence?  L'écureuil allait plus vite que lui...  I would have considered the phrase  part of the story chronology-- not background/description.  Or should I "translate" it as The squirrel was faster than him...  since it is a comparison of speed?  Merci?

I notice that 'nul'  is used in the response for 'useless' in the passages yet 'inutile' is accepted as the preferred translation in the explanatory paragraph at the end. Why is this so?

For example: Je nettoie la vitre de la voiture - J'en nettoie la vitre

Does par-dessus imply movement over, or could au-dessus be used as well? C'est-à dire, est-ce qu'on pourrait dire "Le ballon a volé au dessus de la barrière"?

I noticed that for the two verbs that have to do with thoughts croire and savoir, the example phrases are negated. Are you able to use these verbs in positive sentences with passé composé or is it more appropriate to use the imparfait since it’s hard to know how long and how many times something was thought or believed?

1/ When I wanna say I go to a specific place by name, should I just write "Je vais à Son Duong" or "Je vais à la Son Duong? 

Ps: Son Duong is a village. 

2/ If I wanna say: He is the directer at Song Nguyen company. Is "Il est directeur à l'enterprise de Song Nguyen" correct? or no "de" needed?
