why is it 'J'ai vu des endroits magnifiques'

Wouldn't it be d'endroits magnifiques?

I feel as if the explanation is missing something because it is contradicting the same rules it is proposing, as I doubt it has the wrong answer?

Hi Kelly,

To put it simply and as explained in the lesson -

J’ai vu des endroits  magnifiques

Or

J’ai vu de magnifiques endroits

Hope this helps!

You might be confused about what is the noun (endroits) and what's the adjecitve (magnifiques). You simply have the partitive article (les), which contracts with "de":

J'ai vu des endroits magnifiques. -- I've seen some beautiful places.

But if the adjective is between "de" and the noun, you omit the article:

Il y avait de belles collines. -- There were some beautiful hills.
