so is it that celebrer has the changing accent on the second e even though it is not e-er verb but an etwo letters er verb?

HI Carol, 

I am not sure I understand your question completely but in the case of 'célébrer' , the second -e takes a grave accent to match its pronunciation in the following forms of the present tense -

je célèbre

tu célèbres 

il/elle/on célèbre

ils/elles célèbrent 

But 

nous célébrons

vous célébrez

Perhaps the rule for this lesson needs to state that 'in the case of 'célébrer' , the second -e takes a grave accent

I was wondering about this too, but I am guessing the space in the phrase e-er can account for more than one letter?
