Jeter un œil ?I always thought 'to have a look at' was 'jeter un coup d'œil'. Is this equivalent to 'jeter un œil' ?

"je ferai plus attention" better than "je serai plus prudent" ? To me, être prudent has the better nuance to this situation.

Is "retourner dans" invariable, or is "retourner à" also acceptable?

The given translation of "Vous êtes retournés dans la maison de votre enfance" is "You went back to your childhood home."

But can one distinguish between "going back to" (and remaining outside) and "going back into"? In other words is "retourner dans" invariable, or is "retourner à" also acceptable?

Using 'en' in sentences

What is triggering the use of 'en' in the sentence 'le destin en a décidé autrement' ? Is it the fact that 'décider' implies a clause starting with 'de' - or something else ?

I often can't see a simple 'de...' clause that could be interchanged with the 'en'.

How can I use "imparfait" in the subordinate clause when the main clause is past

he knew that : "I was playing football" =direct speech
he knew that I had been playing football=indirect speech
or
he knew that "I used to play football" = direct speech
he knew that I used to play football=indirect speech

How can I create "indirect speech" for these sentences
