Hello,
why is it j'ai eu plus de mal avec rather than du?
Also, why is it EU instead of AVAIS...
Thanks.
For "real disaster", shouldn't it be behind the noun?
In a quiz:
Q: Qui est cet homme?
A: C’est Marc Dupré.
Why C'est and not Il est?
The first rule in the lesson for C’est is that you use it if it/he/she is followed by un/une/le/la or another article. That is not the case here.
The second rule is to use C'est to express general, unspecific statements and opinions, referring to a thing generally, as in something unspecified is great or delicious, like "Science is fun!". But here, the answer is identifying a specific person, Marc Dupré, not a general concept.
Thanks.
How would "what's that (used) for" and "what does that mean" look in french (considering the three ways of asking question(s))?
1) À quoi ça sert? Que veut dire ça?
2) Ça sert à quoi? Ça veut dire quoi, ça?
3) Qu'est-ce que ça sert? Qu'est-ce que ça veut dire?
What took you so long?
I don't understand why we here use the "qui". I would use "que" here as there is no verb following it. Can someone explain please?
My mother wanted to come with me but I preferred to go on my own.
Why do we here use the PC rather than the IMP?
"Le couteau, dont Marc a cassé le manche, est bleu." What/who is blue?
vs
"Le couteau, que Marc a cassé le manche, est bleu." What/who is blue?
What would be the difference between dont and que here?
both google and deep L give the translation for roller coaster as les montagne russes but you didn't give this as an option. Are both used or is grand huit more common?
Is there any difference between the two ? or is se retrouver to meet someone which is prearranged and rencontrer more random? I've noticed that kwizik seems to favour se retrouver as the best answer
thanks
Bonjour Madame Cécile !
While attempting a kwiz ,I was provided with the following sentence ->
Les enfants ont rangé les cadeaux _________ sapin de Noël .
The answer marked correct was -> au pied du (at the foot of)
However, I would like to ask whether the options - “au dessous du / autour du” are correct ?
Just wanted to convey a small request-
Whenever, you feel free and comfortable, kindly help me ( as you always have done) with my queries which I posted lately as follow-ups .
Merci encore !
Je vous souhaite une bonne journée !
