I think this dictee proves to me that I am in NO WAY ready to consider a vacation in France, where (as I recall) most speakers speak even more rapidly than the lady who read this exercise. I hadn't been thinking of such a trip anyway (Covid has interfered with so many plans) but I have decided that at this rate I should probably stay home, possibly forever!

since On is used to refer to we/ people etc, why does it make use of the subject verb conjugation of il/elle. eg il est/ on est. Instead of On sommes

When to use the partitive article?Quand j'ai envie de la viande— This was my answer to one of the writing exercises. I wrote de la, the correct answer omitted the la. The prompt was—When I want meat...Despite reading the other items in the the discussion, it still is not clear to me whether or not to use the article. It is my understanding that de la or du are partitive articles and one is required if you’re not using a definite article in most cases. I can see a relationship to the the negation pattern. I have no bread—Je n’ai pas de pain. This usage is merely something I think that I have memorized. I can’t actually explain the grammar points involved. Please clarify. Thank you!

Expecting and waiting

Can someone please explain when to use "s'attendre à" versus "attendre" when talking about expecting? Expecting someone to do something - I was thinking that first sentence might have been "Laissez-moi vous expliquer ce que l'on s'attend à vous" (using the verb "s'attendre à") for "Let me explain what we expect of you", but instead the construction is "... que l'on attend de vous", using "attendre" which I associated with waiting rather than expecting.

Differentiating between using le/la/les and du/de la/des

For example if you were to say 'I like carrots', can't you say j'aime des carottes as well as j'aime les carottes ?

Or do they mean different things?
