Quiz Test for faire de long vs faire de longeurmy answer "fait 6 mètres de longeur" was also marked as incorrect. As longeur is "less commonly used" but not "wrong" should not this answer have been marked correct but with another green tick showing "de long" also correct?

rentre not conjugatedI just noticed rentre is the only verb not conjugated in expressions involving chez, in this lesson. This is not confirmed in the lesson. Is that because it translates as to go/return home and is being used in connection with the word for home? Merci.

Prepositions for States

Bonjour,

For states which preposition do we use? For example to say I live in Michigan would it be:

J'habite à Michigan ou J'habite au Michigan.

Note that for all verbs ending in -ER (including aller), the -s is dropped at the end of the tu form.

Are both of these sentences correct?

il est parti il y a trois semaines (he left 3 weeks ago)

il est parti pendant trois semaines (he has been gone for 3 weeks)

This dictée starts in passé composé, switches into futur proche, and then ends in imparfait. I am often confused by the use of tenses in French. Can you please explain the progression of tenses for telling this story? Thanks!

Expression: je m’y connais un peu ...

I don’t understand the use of the reflexive ‘se connaître’ and the pronoun ‘y’ in the phrase “je m’y connais un peu en moteurs”. Can someone explain these 2 points, or is it just an expression.

(I answered “Je connais un peu les moteurs” for “I know a bit about engines”. Would this be an acceptable alternative?)
