Why is there no preposition "de" after the verb "descend" in the phrase: "Elle descend les escaliers" ?

My Kwiz question was "How could you say "Gregory is going away for the holidays." ?

and the answers included pendant, durant and pour. Is "the holidays" considered to be a clearly defined start and end time?

Dans les notes, le prof écrivait plusieurs fois "None of them are ....".  En fait, "none" en anglais est une contraction de "not one", si la bonne conjugaison du verbe en anglais serait "None of them is .....".

Why is "il lui faut de l'aide" - he / she needs some help and "il te faut de l'aide"  - you must help? I am getting very confused with this expression!

Why can’t it be “tu as l’odeur du pain” ?
