Is there a logical explanation for why we don't say "rendre visite aux"? For example, we can say "Je rendre visite à mes parents" but we can't say "Je rends visite aux mes parents"?
The difference is the same as in English: une glace de marrons -- an ice cream made from chestnuts (the main ingredient is chestnuts)
une glace aux marrons -- an ice cream made with chestnuts (chestnuts are not the main ingredient)
This nuance wasn't clear from the lesson above. How does one distinguish 'from' versus 'with' in such cases?

The sentence from Aug 1 RFI. Why the pronoun Y? What is it replacing, since I don't see an "a + verb" or a place that is normally replaced.

When would you use this expression (s`en aller) instead of the verb partir? Je m`en vais or Je pars.
