Can 'les gosses' be used here instead of 'les enfants' for 'the kids' ?

Les enfants -- the children, the kids
les gosses --  the kids, the "rug rats", etc. (a more familiar and informal term)

It's difficult to find a 1:1 correspondence with an English term, but les gosses is definitely less formal and a bit less affectionate, maybe.

Bonjour Pamela,

"Les gosses" can be used for "les enfants". However, it is quite colloquial/informal and used in informal context/speech. In this context, it's best to use the standard word "enfants".

Personally, I don't like using "gosse" ; maybe due to the fact that it's used in less than affectionate expressions such as "un sale gosse = a brat".

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
