I can’t quite understand why the subordinate clause here is in the present when the main sentence is past.  Nous avons passé une bonne journée ________d'avis. I wrote “sans que je n’aie changé” but the correct answer was in the present “sans que je ne change”…

(We had a nice day without my changing my mind).

I am bring this up because I am desperately trying to find a site where I can check my written French.  One I recently discovered https://bonpatron.com/  seemed promising at first.  

In a quiz question here on the lesson topic above, multiple choice, my answer was marked wrong:

#1 Nous sommes entrés sans que vous ne nous entendez. (wrong, and I now see why)

The correct answer was:

#2 Nous sommes entrés sans que vous nous entendiez.

I can understand why my answer is wrong, based on the lesson.  

I checked out all four sentences at Bon Patron including the last two

#3  Nous sommes entrés sans vous nous entendre.

#4 Nous sommes entrés sans vous nous entendiez.

For all four sentences, I was given a grammar score of 100% on Bon Patron.  

So I am thinking that Bon Patron is not at all helpful, unless there is some really obscure reason that the three wrong answers here might be acceptable under some obscure circumstance, which I doubt.

Writing in French (to express my own thoughts) is a real challenge for me.  At some point I have to go beyond set quizzes (and in no way is this meant as a criticism of Kwiziq) and use what I've learned here, so, for example, I can write correct French to French friend in France.

Anyone have any helpful ideas for me?

I'd like to know if the lack of the "ne explétif" is considered a grammar mistake or if it is optional in writing in the cases where it's supposed to be used when the verb is in the negative form.

In the song "Tu vas me détruire", we have the sentence "Lentement, je m'y noierai, sans qu'un remord ne me vienne". It seems to me this violates the rule that ne explétif is not used when the main tense is not used with negation.

I was wondering why "en" is not accepted in my answer using the phrase "etre au courant"?  You have "of it" in the English hint. 

....sans que Neve en soit au courant

Why was my answer: "Je vais parler sans que vous m'interrompions."  The answer you were looking for was: " Je vais parler sans que tu m'interrompes." It was not specified in the question whether to use tu or vous.

is there a list of verbs that do or do not take the ne expletif

I noticed in all these examples the subjects are not the same in the main clause and in the sans que clause.

What if for examples 1 and 3 of this lesson, I say "He came without telling you." "We decorated everything without bothering you." 

Would this phrasing affect how they would be written in French?

Or would I still indicate the subject in both clauses even though the subjects are the same, like such? "Il est venu sans qu'il te dise." "On a tout décoré sans qu'on vous dérange."
