What is the purpose of "de" here?

What is the purpose of "de" here?

For the sentence "pour faire de nouveaux objets en verre". If I were writing this, in order to give the same meaning, I would say "pour faire des nouveaux objets en verre". I could not really grasp the meaning it adds. Can you explain please?

Hi Russ,

This is because of a little grammatical rule which is the purpose of the following lesson -

"Des" becomes " de/d' " in front of adjectives preceding nouns (French Partitive Articles)

Hope this helps!

Just a little added remark:

Without the nouveaux, this would be a standard partitive article.

pour faire des objets en verre -- to make (some) objects of glass
