I did have to look this one up! But for anyone else who was wondering, "sans chocolat" is absolutely correct. I had thought it would be "sans le chocolat."

Hi Adrienne,
You would not have an article after sans
un dessert sans sucre = a sugarless sweet/dessert
une chemise sans manches = a sleeveless shirt
une soirée sans enfants = an evening without children
etc.
