Hello, i am struggling to understand this construction: ces drôles de choses; ces drôles d'objets. Can anyone help with the grammar reasoning behind it or the link to a lesson on this?

Salut Okpeta,

"ces drôles de choses; ces drôles d'objects."   In the sense: These strangest of preposition (de / d') -----

"These strange (bizarre) things; these strange (bizarre) objects."

Where "ces" is a demonstrative plural adjective relating to the plural nouns

Hope that this helps.

Bonne continuation

Jim

It’s a bit dated, but in UK English one might say "a funny sort/kind of + noun" to express the same idea. Doesn’t really work for plurals, though.
