Please clear my doubt regarding the French "de"

While attempting a kwiziq test, I came accross this:

Je viens de Hong Kong.

Je viens d'Ottawa.

Why the de with hong kong do not change to d' ...This seems contrasting to the rule I studied about 'les prepositions de lieux'
