Why do we say "J'adore la France" but "J'aime Paris" ? Why dont we need to add "le" before "Paris"?

Hi Hà Thu,
No rhyme or reason this is just the way it is, in French, countries take a definite article.
La France but Paris
L' Espagne but Madrid
L' Italie but Rome
Le Portugal but Lisbonne
etc.
