Bonjour Raymond,

Here ‘lui’ refers to an indirect object pronoun and therefore the past participle doesn’t agree with the object even if placed ahead in the verbal expression.

Indeed, the verb used in the example is ‘demander [qch] à [qqun]’ = to ask [sth] to [sb] where the object is introduced by a preposition (à).
