The verb 'ressembler à quelque chose' means to look like something.

In the following list, you will find -

'ressembler à quelqu'un' = to look like someone

Many verbs in French are followed by the prepositions à or de, just beware not to translate literally what you see in English.

The verbal phrase is ressembler à qqc, and since gold is not countable, we simply need the partitive article: de l'or. Hence: Les feuilles ressemblent à de l'or.
