In this text, why does she say 'J'ai vécu', but then say 'Je faisais partie' et 'J'organisais'....
I am wondering why the different tenses here, as surely 'living' was an on-going occurrence ?

Rendre visite has a somewhat negative meaning in terms of something being an obligation. That's fine if that's what is intended but you "aller voir" someone who is a friend.
There are two phrases - 'les chiens qui se sont frottés contre' and 'dont le style ne va plus du tout avec' where the final pronoun (for 'it') seem to have been dropped. Is there any general guidance about when and why this happens ? If you could include the pronouns in these clauses, what would they be ?

is the "ou" supposed to be "ou`"? as in where, not or.
Edit: I have since found out that I pretty much answered my own question.
