Grammar Queries (based on concepts)Bonjour Madame Cécile !
I am facing a few problems and am unable to understand the reasons behind them.
1. "He realizes you're cheating." -> Il réalise que vous êtes en train de tricher.
In this sentence, why one doesn’t use Le Subjonctif as the expression is followed by “que”?
2. I knocked at the door, but you were sleeping."
The correct answer was-> J'ai frappé à la porte, mais tu étais en train de dormir.
Though, I mentioned “ J'ai frappé à la porte, mais tu dormais. (L’Imparfait)
As I was sleeping in progression when someone knocked.
3. Ils ________ écouter.(They should listen.)
Why the accurate answer is -> devraient (Le Conditionnel Présent) and not ‘doivent’ ?
Merci Madame de m’aider encore.
Je vous souhaite une bonne journée !
Every dictionary I have checked confirms that 'les soldes' is masculine (wheareas 'la vente' is feminine, and 'la solde' has a different meaning). Just about every French person (woman) I have asked is surprised to find this to be the case ! However, I think the exercise should at least reflect/indicate the 'correct' usage:
Perhaps a simple note under the heading of the lesson that although 'les soldes' is officially masculine gender, it is very commonly 'misused' in the feminine, and throughout this lesson the 'colloquial' feminine grammatical gender for 'les soldes' has been used.
Just leaving it incorrect doesn't seem to me to be the best option.

Why is it "la maison" rather than "ma maison"?
When do I use un, une, des, le, la, l', les, du?
Après nous être levés... ? I see the construction après être but why here? It looks active.. something they did, rather than a passive situation so why not passé composé? Would that be wrong or a valid alternative?.. or would it have to be après nous nous sommes levés?.. think I am beginning to get the message...
I'm not sure how this is supposed to work. Am I supposed to try and read aloud along with it or just listen to it? And somehow, if I hit the pause button in not exactly the same place, I get 2 voices reading at the same time. And it doesn't rewind? I just have to listen straight through?
Is it correct? "J'ai faim parce que je ne mange pas le déjeuner"
Do you have any lessons or notes on why the [nombre] occurs after les années.
Ex- "Vous étaiez étudiants dans les années quatre-vingt."
