Would you pls explain the differences and nuances of the use of il faut que +subjunctive and devour + the infinitive. When is it better to use one vs the other?
In the B2 writing exercise, occurs the following phrase: le Ministère a finalement confirmé ce lundi for: the Ministry finally confirmed this Monday.
If ce is a demonstrative adjective, this construction seems incorrect. I translated it as le Ministère l'a confirmé lundi.
- Je n'ai jamais eu un bon sens de l'orientation.
why not just
Je n'ai jamais eu un bon sens d'orientation
Is "Nous nous sentons", in this situation, just a matter of emphasizing the point?
I add my question to Walter's. Would you please explain the "d'à côté" construction. AND add it to the lesson on à côté de etc etc. I looked there but thus little subtlety is not mentioned. Merci!
Bonjour,
I've read the comments but I'm still confused. On a test question, I was marked wrong for writing "Je n'aime ni les pommes ni les poires" when asked to translate "I eat neither apples or pears".
This seems to me like a general statement and not referring to specific apples or pears, so why would the only accepted answer be "Je n'aime ni pommes ni poires"?
Merci.
