Désormais pourrait-il marcher mieux dans la dernière phrase? - je comprend le sens de la phrase à être que l’audience ne le savait pas auparavant mais désormais on le sait bien. 

In the first three example 'je' is followed by a word starting with a vowel. Why doesn't 'je' change to j'?

eg Puis-je avoir le pain, s'il vous plaît? --> Puis-j'avoir le pain?

I know I am a little old-fashioned about this, but even though "it sucks!" is used more and more frequently these days in colloquial American speech, I think it is still a fairly vulgar expression.  Does "ca craint" have the same level of vulgarity as "ca suce" in French?  I'm just curious.

This weeks Weekend workout (A Lovely Encounter 31-09-2018) asks for a translation of 'She had just closed her eyes when she heard a little squeal comming from the bushes.'

For the 'when she heard' section I answered: 'quand elle a entendu' but the answer was given as 'quand elle entendit' (passé sample). 

Could you please explain why "quand elle a entendu" is incorrect.

Il a gagné la course, qui est impressionnante.He won the amazing race.

Dans le deuxième, c'est la course qui est impressionnante. C'était la course qui était impressionnants, pas qu'il l'a gagné.

Est-ce-que correct, ce logique ?

If you can't say "j'ai d'autres chaussures", how then would you express "I have other shoes".

Since you can't end the sentence with à qui (etc), how would you express something like this? "Yes, that's the one I was thinking of" / "That's the one I was thinking about"

Do you basically have to make it more like "Yes, that's the one of which I was thinking"? Having trouble figuring out how to express it in French.

Does anyone know why you say: 

Je joue du piano but then you say: Je joue de la harpe

Does anyone know what the rule is for if you use Je joue de la or Je joue du?
