How to make sure your translations  are correct in English to French 

Hello, perhaps i missed this/am not understandng something: is there a rule for en versus de usage? eg une robe de satin or une robe en satin? 

I am not sure why the subjunctive is used here.  I understand that trouver takes indicative in the affirmative, but subjunctive if negative.  Here it is affirmative, so presumably the word étrange is causing the change in tense.  Perhaps because étrange has a negative connotation, or perhaps simply because it is an adjective, as in être étrange que ..

I didn't finish this exercise the first time round. I've come back to it - a long time later - but unfortunately it doesn't remind me which words/phrases to look up in advance, so had to guess all of them! Please could you do a reminder for when this happens?

The preposition malgré is closer to despite, whereas the expression en dépit de is closer to in spite of.

I found this sentence a bit confusing as the pairs of words are described as interchangeable (and certainly are in English, apart from despite being a bit more formal) - does that "closer to" just mean that one of the pair is a single word and the other a prepositional phrase?

Thought you should know. I have twice tried to go on to the website suggested in the video and both times have been exposed to what I think is a scam. A realistic, but I think, false website appears for McFee virus security, and offers subscription at a lower price than going to the real website offers. In a previous lesson, J’allais + infinitive = was going to _ . This example that is captioned, is translated as ‘ I was enrolling at university’ instead of ‘I was going to enroll’.
