Conjugate regular -er and -ir verbs in Le Futur (future tense)

Look at these examples:

Je choisirai ma nouvelle voiture.
I will choose my new car.

Un jour, tu parleras français couramment.
One day, you'll speak French fluently.

Il mangera chinois demain.
He will eat Chinese tomorrow.

Nous volerons dans une heure.
We will fly in one hour.

Vous finirez votre dîner?
Will you finish your dinner?

Les célébrations commenceront dans un instant.
Celebrations will start in a moment.

To form Le Futur (Simple) of regular -er or -ir verbs, you keep the infinitive form of the verb and then add the following endings-ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont

Verbs like jouer or crier become je jouerai ou je crierai.
Even though we don't pronounce the "e", it is still there as part of the infinitive:

Ils joueront dans la pièce de l'école.
They will play in the school play.

Je crierai de toutes mes forces.
I'll scream my head off.

Pronunciation of jouer and crier in Le Futur

The lesson states that the e in, for example, 'joueront' is not pronounced.

Please explain why this is so when the verb in the following sentence, taken from the lesson, the e is pronounced.:

Nous volerons dans une heure.

Hi Stewart,

The "e" in "joueront" or "crieront" (inherited from the infinitive as explained in the lesson) are not pronounced because they are placed after a vowel. In "voleront", the "e" is placed after a consonant, and must be pronounced. Hope this helps!
