Why isn't Il écrit aussi rapidement que lui = il écrit aussi vite lui ?
This question relates to:French lesson "Plus ... que/Moins ... que/Aussi ... que = More ... than/Less ... than/As ... as (Comparisons with Adjectives in French)"
Asked 2 years ago
Hi Stephen,
I have checked the Kwiz question and it goes -
Frank écrit vite mais Olivier écrit _____ que lui. ( Frank writes fast but Olivier writes as fast as him)
So you are not supposed to change the adverb, you are being tested on the comparative here,
vite = rapidement
so, aussi rapidement would be equally correct if we were testing the adverb.
Bonne Continuation!

Vite and rapidement are very similar in their meaning but there are instances where vite is more common than rapidement. For example: fais vite! -- Make haste! Hurry up!
The most notable difference is that rapidement has to do with speed, as in: something is moving or progressing at great speed. Vite is more like "quick".
Il écrit vite. -- He's writing quickly.
Son stylo bouge rapidement. -- His pen moves fast.
