Why they used "ta" and not "vos" or "votre"?

Hi Memol,

You could say

How many of you are there in your family?

in French, in two possible ways :

To someone you say 'vous' to -

Vous êtes combien dans votre famille ?

and to someone you say 'tu' to

Vous êtes combien dans ta famille ?

The first vous is a collective 'you' meaning several people as a family comprises at least 2 people.

Hope this helps!

Memol B -

you would have to ask them ' why ? '.

You can certainly use ' dans votre famille ' here, and if I was using 'vous' to address someone in the first place, I would.

(It would not be ' vos famille ', but could be ' vos familles ' if there were multiple families involved.

Notre/nos/votre/vos/leur/leurs = our/your/their (French Possessive Adjectives)
