Use of Subjunctive

Hello team and learners:

Please can some explain why the subjunctive mood is used in the sentence - Qu'est-ce que tu dirais qu'on se fasse une double séance en son honneur?

Hi Paris,

The expression 'Ça te dit que' (how about) or a similar 'qu'est-ce que tu dirais que' ( what do you say/feel about doing something)  is always followed by the subjunctive.

Ça te dit qu'on aille au cinéma ? = How about we go to the pictures/movies?

Qu'est-ce que tu dirais qu'on revienne la semaine prochaine ? What do you say/feel about coming back next week?

Bonne Continuation !

Bonjour Paris,

The story is about the sad passing of a person and then reminiscing about their achievements in life.

So it is a situation, heavy with emotion -- this is why I see the subjunctive mood as being appropriate.

Hope this helps.

Bonne journée

Jim
