It can only be 'ces' here meaning -

these efforts

'ses' would mean his/her efforts which doesn't make any sense...

Yes, I believe it can, but it means "his/her" efforts

I had the same question. Could you explain more fully why ses wouldn't work to mean "after all of ONE's efforts"? Merci.
