“…four or so…” sounds like an indeterminate or uncountable number to me, hence should be included amongst the right answers to the use of “quelques”. is it four or isn’t it four? :-)

Tu peux apporter quelques tableaux ?
This question relates to:French lesson "Quelque/quelques vs Un peu de/peu de = A couple/a few vs a bit of/few (French Indefinite Adjectives)"
Asked 1 year ago
Hi Richard,
I disagree, I have never heard 'four or so' used for 'a few' in Britain to express a small indeterminate quantity. It is very determinate as it means about four pictures.
We only accept 'some' or 'a few' as the correct answers.
But 'a couple of ' would work although it is not given as a possible answer.
Bonne Continuation !

I'm not sure what exactly you are asking. Paintings are countable objects even when their exact number isn't determined. Whether it is four or not four, there is some countable number of paintings. That's what is important.

If paintings are countable objects, then why aren't friends countable objects?
