Can you also say 'tu as emporté ton doudou?' I thought if you are taking an object and it is staying with you, then you use emporter.

Even though you could also use emporter here, the two verbs really mean something different:
emporter -- bring with you
prendre -- to take
While both words involve taking something, prendre is more versatile and can refer to a wider range of actions involving taking, using, or experiencing something. Emporter specifically indicates the action of taking something away from one place to another.
