I have listened to the tape and hear, “... les enfants ont hâte” but I do agree that the phrase  is difficult to make out because of the ‘h’ aspirate in ‘hâte’ and as it is preceded by the nasal ‘ont’ an untrained ear might lose it in the process but it is there...
