Still not getting it...

Thsee are what I think are correct:

Je veux le café = I want the coffee

Je veux le café = I want coffee

Je veux du café = I want some coffee

Ils veulent des cafés = They want coffees

Ils veulent du café = They want some coffee

ILS veulent le café = They want coffee

Ils veulent de café = They want a coffee.

I think these are all correct grammar, depending on the situation.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I can see your confusion Sandra but not all those are correct -

If you use 'le' it means 'the', definite article, so if you are shown a list of beverages, you might say -

Je veux ( although 'je voudrais' which is, 'I'd like' would be more customary) le café, s'il vous plaît.

If you say -

Je veux un café = I want a coffee

Ils veulent un café = They want a coffee

Ils veulent des cafés They want coffees

Je veux /ils veulent du café I/they want  some coffee

Je ne veux pas/ils ne veulent pas de café I/they don't want any coffee

Not easy I know, but hope this helps!

Ils veulent de café = They want a coffee (This couldn't true. Because "de" is never used to mean "a" while it may seem as the logical singular form of  "des" the lessons already point out that the singular form is "un/une".
