prepositions before infinitives - à porter

Après tous ces mois à porter les mêmes vêtements

Could you help me find a reference to understanding the use of prepositions before infinitives (I understand prepositions after).

Also, I read the question as 'after months of wearing', but can à be used for the preposition 'of'?

In French to express "after [years/months/days/etc] (of) + [doing] something", we use the expression "après [des années/mois/jours/etc] à + [infinitive verb].
Après des mois à chercher une solution, ... = After months (of) searching for a solution, ...
If you wish to express "after [years/months/days/etc] of + [noun]", you can also use "après [des années/mois/jours/etc] de + [noun]".
Après des mois de sècheresse, ... = After months of drought, ...
