is possible and your second sentence doesn't make any sense in French.

Michel ne rêvait plus que d'une chose. -- Michel only dreamed of one thing. (lit. Michel didn't dream anymore except about one thing.)
What you propose sounds off to me. It means something along the lines "Michel dreamed only of one thing more."
