Past tense in written French
This question relates to:French lesson "Using the compound tense (Le Passé Composé) on its own or with the imperfect tense (L'Imparfait)"
Asked 3 years ago

Hi Anish,
Yes, you can use the passé composé in writing, letters, emails, texts, etc. I think you are maybe thinking of the use of the 'passé simple' ( past historic) which is used in literature, including children's literature?

Sure, passé composé can be used in formal writing. What makes you think it can't?
