Past participle of croire

Why is it ' on se serait crus' and not ' on se serait cru'. I thought 'on ' was singular.

When on is used as a colloquial nous, the verb is in singular but otherwise it is treated as plural. It's a strange mix.

Just to be clear, do you mean ' on' when used in place of 'nous' as opposed to ' on' meaning 'one' ( in the Queen's/King's english)?
