I am a little puzzled as to why Kwiziq states has an irregular pp.
My understanding for 're' verbs is to remove the re (batt) and then add u (battu)? It is of course iregular in the present (je bats / nous battons)

Bonjour Messieurs !
As always, really interesting discussion, this time on the regularity of -re past participles :)
My thinking for calling "battu" an irregular past participle came from the fact that although a majority of -dre verbs have regular -du past participles, we will all agree that there are many different and therefore "irregular" past participles when it comes to the broader -re verbs: ri, bu, lu, fait, mis.... to quote but a few! So that was my thinking there.
However, I do agree that the term "irregular" might be a bit strong to be used for "battre" and derivatives, and I therefore removed it from the lesson :)
Thank you very much for your feedback!
Bonne journée à vous !
Hi John,
This verb is referred to as irregular and I can only assume that is because the past participle can be used as an adjective
battu, battue, battus, battues. This is what I have found in my conjugation reference.
Perhaps Cécile or Céline will be able to help further?
Jim
