You say: "Note that pas and du tout CAN be separated, quite like in English." Alas, the examples do not differ:

Elle n'est pas du tout stupide!
She's not stupid at all!

Elle n'est pas stupide du tout!
She's not stupid at all!

The example differs in French.

Surely, but I meant they shoul differ in English too, as far as the comment to this exercise suggests literally: "quite like in English"
