I was wondering why it's "de" and not "des" in this sentence? I know that if there was an adjective before "cartes," then you'd use "de" (de bonnes cartes), but I can't figure out why it is used here instead of "des". Merci d'avance pour votre réponse.

Nous rêvions de cartes au trésor.
This question relates to:French writing exercise "Holiday [US: Vacation] by the sea"

Hi T and Anne,
The preposition ‘de’ is part of the verb -
Rêver de quelque chose=to dream of something
So if you said -
Nous rêvions des cartes au trésor= we dreamed of the treasure maps ( mentioned )
In this case it is -
We dreamed of treasure maps=nous rêvions de cartes au trésor ( unspecific)
Hope this helps!
