Make this statement negative « ne te disons de te coucher »
This question relates to:French lesson "Using negations with infinitive verbs in French indirect speech (French Negations)"
Asked 2 years ago
Hi Heather,
I have checked and the only answer accepted is -
de ne pas te coucher
with no verb 'aller' although as Jim says the expression -
aller se coucher
is also to go to bed

Hi Heather,
As I understand it, "aller se coucher" (se mettre au lit) is a locution verbale (phrasal verb)

I believe this to be the reason why "aller" has been introduced.
Hope this helps.
Bonne journée
Jim
